What should I check before benching with barbells and dumbbells?
Look for a high load rating that covers your bodyweight plus total weight lifted. A pad height around 43–45 cm and a firm 26–30 cm pad width help stable leg drive. Make sure the ladder or pop-pin gives true flat and multiple incline steps. Check attachment compatibility, wheel and handle for moving, and use a rack with spotter arms for heavy barbell presses.
