Foam or wood: which plyo box and what height should I use?
Foam reduces shin scrapes and suits group spaces or newer jumpers. Wood provides a firm, stable edge for step-ups and box squats. As a guide, start at 40–50 cm for beginners, 50–60 cm for intermediate athletes, and 60–75 cm for advanced jumps. Want quick changes mid-workout? A 3-in-1 box (often 50/61/76 cm) lets you rotate to switch height.
